What Is a Push Drain Video Camera Inspection?

A push drain video camera inspection is a method our professional technicians use to visually inspect your drains and sewer lines. Using a specialized camera, we can see the inside of your pipes in real time, identifying blockages, buildup, or damage before it becomes a serious problem.

There are two main types of sewer cameras:

  • Push cameras: Designed for smaller pipes, typically 2 to 6 inches in diameter.

  • Crawler camera systems: Used for larger pipes, 6 inches and above, for a more thorough inspection. Learn more →

During the inspection, the camera sends live video footage to a monitor, allowing our team to accurately assess the condition of your pipes and pinpoint any issues. Push camera inspections are commonly used to investigate clogs, slow drains, or other drainage problems and are a valuable tool for maintaining a healthy plumbing system.

Why Is a Push Video Camera Inspection Important?

Sewer line problems can be tricky to diagnose without the right tools. That’s where a push video camera inspection comes in.

Using high-definition cameras mounted on a flexible cable, our technicians can see inside your drains and sewer lines in real time. This allows us to identify blockages, leaks, cracks, or other issues quickly and accurately.

Push video camera inspections eliminate the need for costly and time-consuming excavations. By pinpointing the exact problem, we can plan the most effective solution, saving you time, money, and hassle. It’s an essential tool for keeping your plumbing system healthy and preventing small issues from turning into major repairs.

When Is a Push Video Camera Inspection Necessary?

A push video camera inspection is recommended whenever you want a clear view of the inside of your drains or sewer lines. Common situations include:

  • Frequent clogs or slow drains: If sinks, tubs, or toilets back up regularly, a camera inspection can pinpoint the cause.

  • Unexplained odors: Persistent sewer smells may indicate hidden blockages, buildup, or damage.

  • After plumbing work: Verify that repairs or installations were done correctly and that pipes are flowing properly.

  • Before major cleaning or hydro jetting: Ensures the technician knows the condition of your pipes and targets the exact problem.

  • Signs of damage: Cracks, leaks, or tree root intrusion can be detected early before causing bigger issues.

  • Preventive maintenance: Routine inspections help catch small problems before they turn into expensive repairs.

By using a push video camera inspection, you get an accurate diagnosis without digging up your yard or walls, saving time, money, and stress.
